Man Utd have made a huge offer to Real Madrid for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, according to reports, amid a breakdown in contract talks with David de Gea.
The Red Devils are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper this summer after contract talks with De Gea reportedly broke down.
Man Utd left the Spaniard off their retained list for next season with the Daily Mirror's David McDonnell recently insisting that there is now a possibility that he departs Old Trafford.
Writing on Twitter about De Gea, whose contract runs until the end of June, McDonnell explained: "De Gea not included on Man Utd's retained list of players, with sources indicating situation not as positive as it was a few weeks ago.
"A contract extension could still be agreed, but would require compromise on both sides."
But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that it is still De Gea's intention to extend his stay at Man Utd despite lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia.

Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column: "For David de Gea, the priority is to stay at Manchester United. He really hopes to stay a bit longer at Old Trafford, but if this won't happen, Saudi will be one of the options. They approached him two weeks ago, but it is not advanced yet as United is his priority."
Man Utd have since been linked to Inter Milan's Andre Onana, Porto's Diogo Costa and Everton's Jordan Pickford as they look to bring in a top goalkeeper in case De Gea leaves.
But a report in Spanish publication Defensa Central (via Nacional) claims that Man Utd have 'presented' a ?80m (£69m) offer to Real Madrid for Belgium goalkeeper Courtois.
The Red Devils are prepared to 'throw the house out the window' for the ex-Chelsea goalkeeper and have 'proposed a contract that would pay him 20 million euros (£17m) per year'.
But the 31-year-old 'is too important' for Real Madrid to lose and 'not even with the monumental offer' from Man Utd 'does he seem close to leaving'.
It seems extremely unlikely that Man Utd would be willing to pay such a big fee for a goalkeeper, especially considering they are currently baulking at various asking prices for strikers, which is their priority position in the summer transfer window.
It is reported that Man Utd will look to bring in competition for De Gea even if he stays, with Tom Heaton their only other goalkeeper if Dean Henderson leaves permanently, as expected.
