North Lanarkshire Council has given the go ahead for new homes to be built in Craigneuk.
The council's planning department gave the green light for 47 new properties to be constructed by Keepmoat Homes on land east of Wellington Street.
The planners report states: "This application proposes the development of 47 houses which includes a variety of two-storey and two-and-a-half-storey, semi-detached and terraced houses with associated parking, roads, boundary treatments and landscaping.
"The application site approximately 1.27 ha in size and is located to the east of an existing industrial/commercial business. This site was a former sporting pitch which has been vacant for some time.
"The proposed residential development on this site is considered acceptable in terms of the North Lanarkshire Local Development Plan.
"It is considered that the proposed development can be accommodated without detriment of the surrounding area and local businesses."
No objections were received as part of the application.
In 2018, the council's planning committee gave the go-ahead for Keepmoat bosses to build 111 homes on land at Meadowhead Road.
