Andy Murray's wife appeared to struggle to hide her emotions as she watched her husband's defeat at the cinch Championships at The Queen's Club in London - ending his opportunity to snag 11 wins in a row.

Kim Sears, 35, dressed in a chic green summer frock, looked tense as she watched her husband's Men's Singles First Round match against Alex de Minaur today.

She appeared on the edge of her seat during the nail-biting face off.  But while Andy, 36, appeared tireless in his efforts, he eventually went down 6-3, 6-1 to his 24-year-old opponent.

The sports legend had won 10 matches in a row in claiming back-to-back grass-court titles in Surbiton and Nottingham.

But Alex sent him spinning to a defeat which means, barring an unlikely raft of withdrawals, that he will not be seeded at Wimbledon next month.

Australian seventh seed Alex - the world number 18 - was a major step up in class and probably one of the trickiest first-round opponents Andy could have drawn.

The player certainly knew his way around a grass court; he is a former Eastbourne champion and reached the fourth round at Wimbledon last year.

Andy's frustration was visible, as was that of Kim, who looked forlorn watching from the stands.

The athlete's wife is a famously supportive presence at his matches, having over the weekend given the pro a heartwarming Father's Day surprise when she took their children to watch him play at the Nottingham Open.

The former world number one beat Frenchman Arthur Cazaux 6-4 6-4 in the final to make it 10 wins in a row, and lift the Rothesay Nottingham Open.

However, Andy only noticed his surprise guests while being interviewed after the match ended.

Genuinely shocked, Andy counted his children, saying 'they're all here' and admitted he had 'no idea' they were coming to watch.

Addressing Kim in the stands, Andy added: 'They're all here - thanks guys.'

Reflecting on his recent hip struggles, the star continued: : 'Obviously my family have been unbelievably supportive of my career when they could have easily asked me to stop.

'I really appreciate it. Thanks to all of them and my team and my physio for keeping my body going. I really appreciate my family and my team in moments like this.'

People were certainly moved by the video on Twitter - posted by the LTA - with one person commenting: 'Omg that moment had me in tears, so wonderful for them to see their father win today.'

Another wrote: 'Loved this, his genuine dad voice entered the room real quick, such a precious moment.'

A third penned: 'What a lovely, genuine moment. Beautiful family.' A fourth said: 'The way he seemed genuinely shocked, happy Father's Day Andy.

Andy reportedly first met his wife at a party for the US open in 2005 and they kept their relationship private for a while.

But they became public a year later when won his first tournament in California and went into the stands to give Kim a kiss.

Kim, who was 18 at the time and still studying at school, said that she asked her mother to call in sick for her, but pictures of them were splashed over all the papers.

The pair tied the knot on 11 April 2015 at Dunblane Cathedral in Scotland where she wore a glamorous Swarovski crystal-encrusted gown by Jenny Packham, who also designs outfits for The Princess of Wales.

They held their reception at Cromlix House Hotel in Dunblane, which Murray bought for almost £2 million in 2013.

The hotel was shut for a couple of months for a refurbishment led by Kim herself and has since reopened.
