The Carson Wentz story is back in the news cycle. After a rough season with the Washington Commanders, Wentz will be looking to sign with his fourth team in four years.
Wentz has seen success. Though he was out during the actual Super Bowl game due to a season-ending ACL injury, Wentz witnessed his team win Super Bowl LII. He's got a solid resume built, but recent years have shown Wentz and his teams struggle.
After his final season with the Eagles, Wentz then struggled with both the Indianapolis Colts and Commanders, leading to his departure from both of those teams.
Now, looking for his next team, Bill Ordine and BetVirginia produced hypothetical odds on Wentzes' next team based on teams' quarterback rooms and the rumor mill.
In those odds, the team with the best odds to land the quarterback is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+450).
Following the departure of Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers own the next best odds (+500), with both the Las Vegas Raiders (+600) and Arizona Cardinals (+600) following closely behind them.
The timing of all of this makes sense. The Bucs are moving into a new era post-Tom Brady. When the greatest quarterback of all time retired, the Bucs were left with a hole in the quarterback room.

Currently, Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask are fighting for the starting quarterback spot with the team. The battle could go either way, but Wentz could add another wrinkle to the battle. If he signs with the team, he would immediately join the quarterback battle and fight for the QB1 spot.
With no guarantees, the Bucs may provide the best option for Wentz to join on a one-year deal to try and increase his value while turning his career back around. For the Bucs, Wentz would be a safety net. Mayfield and Trask, though battling for the starting spot, might not either be a fit for the team, and they may need to look at alternative options, and Wentz would immediately provide that.
There's a world where the pairing helps both sides of the deal, but with uncertainty around the Bucs' offense, which seemed to struggle with Brady under center, none of the quarterback options may excel under head coach Todd Bowles' system.
