After a successful Xbox Games Showcase with many reveals that fans have been waiting to confirm based on rumors, Bethesda's deep dive into the upcoming Starfield caught the attention of many. With a huge clear gap in terms of quality between its first gameplay reveal and now, there are certainly many new details and mechanics to be analyzed, but with there likely being more for Bethesda to reveal leading up to release, there are multiple game-changing features that fans will hope to see implemented.

As Starfield is shaping up to be Bethesda's biggest title yet and the system seller for the Xbox Series X, a number of innovations and additions can help push this title to what many fans already suspect to be one of, if not the best, open-world sci-fi game ever made.

Taking the deep dive's dialogue sequences into consideration, it appears as though developers at Bethesda are attempting to make interactions and dialogue between characters in Starfield an integral part of the experience. Given the fact that a large majority of RPG titles contain this element in one form or another, this stands as a prerequisite for this title, but with the potential to make it matter more than ever.

With titles such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or other unique games such as Detroit: Become Human, which highlights player choice and decision, if Starfield can manage to take this up another notch and have a large amount of dialogue segments contain an impact on the overarching story, then it will only improve the anticipated great experience.

While it's clear that Starfield will be a single-player experience only and is built to be a single-player title, the potential for a co-op mode or any form of a multiplayer mode post-launch would make for a dream sci-fi experience for players. Similar to No Man Sky's in its outer world traversal, flying to different planets, building ships, and mechanics such as mining for materials, Starfield would likely outdo the aforementioned title if it were to implement co-op.

In the event of Bethesda introducing co-op, whether through a quick post-launch update or a full-fledged add-on DLC, it could provide the experience that many games similar such as Star Citizen have not fully achieved. While this is an unlikely scenario, fans would not be dismissive of the feature if developers were to present it.

One of the aspects that are integral to any RPG title in modern gaming is the loot system and how rewarding and worthwhile it should be. With titles such as Destiny 2, Monster Hunter World, Dragon Age, and many more, their loot systems are so important to the overall experience that they would not be the same without them. Some, such as the aforementioned Monster Hunter World, have loot placed as the main goal for players, as finding new monsters to slay means a new gear set would be available.

Considering the huge difference between these titles and Starfield, Bethesda would need to find a way to implement loot systems that feel rewarding without them feeling like a live service styled-system, especially after the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League backlash. Ensuring that there are enough weapons to find, with different rarity levels and stats can provide a pleasing gameplay loop and implements another purpose among all the present elements.

Given the plethora of RPG games that have included romance options and even intimate scenes present in Cyberpunk 2077, many fans feel as though there is still much more to be explored within this region. With Bethesda confirming the presence of romance options in Starfield by getting close to companions that players will find along the way of their journey, the opportunity to make this one of the best yet is very high.

Aside from classic games such as the Mass Effect series and a few other RPG titles, there is still much to be desired in the realm of romance. While multiple titles have successfully implemented this particular feature, developers at Bethesda should look to make Starfield the first RPG title that gives the most authentic system for romance, ensuring that players have a huge variety in both options during dialogue and characters they choose to romance to alleviate any potential monotony and allow for a less scripted experience.

As Starfield will contain a personality system within its character creation, giving players a variety of traits to choose from, it introduces the topic of an honor or social system. Players who are familiar with Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2 will be aware that depending on how players behave and interact with other NPCs in the open world, it could either increase or decrease their honor, reflecting one who is an outlaw or a law-abiding citizen.

While it's very clear that Red Dead Redemption 2 and Starfield are two completely different games, it would be interesting to see a similar system implemented here which could, in turn, adjust the personality traits that players had set during character creation based on choices they make during story and side missions.

Starfield is set to release on September 6, 2023 on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
