Disneyland Annual Passholer Program Is Ending

Disneyland Annual Passholder Program is ending.  Just announced moments ago, the news spread across the interwebs that the Disneyland Annual Passholder program is ending, During these difficult and trying times

that have affected every person in every industry, even a magical one, Disney has made the very, very difficult decision, and sadly, the Disneyland Annual Passholder program is ending. Due to the continued uncertainty of the pandemic and limitations around the reopening of our California theme parks, they will be issuing appropriate refunds for eligible Disneyland Resort Annual Passports and sunsetting the current Annual Passport program. With over 32,000 Disney Cast Members being laid off, and furloughed, and Disneyland still closed due to the pandemic with no opening date in the foreseeable future it was almost inevitable that the Disneyland Annual Passholder program would be the next to go. I think many of us are still in shock and disbelief as we read the news that the Disneyland Annual Passholder Program is ending

Here is what we know about the ending of the Disneyland Annual Passholder Program Annual passholder such as myself, opened their email today to find this message from Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock.

"Dear Annual Passholder,

For nearly four decades, our Annual Passport program has been an important part of connecting with some of our most valued Guests. We are incredibly honored and grateful for that legacy, and the memories and magical moments you have helped us create over the years.

It's because you've played such an important part in the history of the Disneyland Resort that I personally wanted to share this news with you. In the next several days, we will begin the process of issuing appropriate refunds for eligible Disneyland Resort Annual Passports and sunsetting the current Annual Passport program due to the continued uncertainty of the pandemic and limitations and expected restrictions around the reopening of our theme parks.

I know that sunsetting the Annual Passport program will be disappointing to many of our Passholders who are just as anxious as we are to reopen our gates and welcome Guests back when the time is right. But we are also very excited about what's ahead. We plan to use this time while we remain closed to develop new membership offerings that will utilize consumer insights to deliver choice, flexibility, and value for our biggest fans. Once we have more information to share about future membership offerings, our Passholders will be the first to hear from us as we embark on this next chapter.

Annual Passholders who held active Passports as of March 14, 2020, will continue to receive applicable discounts, based on their Passport type, on merchandise and food & beverages at select Downtown Disney District and Buena Vista Street locations, until new membership offerings are announced. As an added benefit, starting January 18 through February 25, 2021, these Passholders will receive a 30% discount on select merchandise at select locations in Downtown Disney District and Buena Vista Street, Monday through Thursday. For more details, visit Disneyland.com/APSpecialOffers. We also encourage you to stay connected with the Disneyland Annual Passholders Facebook page as we plan to continue our Annual Passport communication and digital content with more special opportunities to come until new membership offerings are announced.

A pro-rata refund will be issued for your Passport if you are entitled to one. We are committed to processing refunds as diligently and as quickly as possible. Please visit Disneyland.com/PassportRefund for more information.

While I have not had the chance to engage with many of you since assuming my Disneyland role in May of last year, I do want to thank you for your understanding during this challenging and unprecedented time. We are incredibly optimistic about our bright future-and look forward to you being part of it.

Again, thank you for your loyalty over the years and your continued support."

Annual Passport Refund Information

Disneyland Resort Annual Passports that were valid as of March 14, 2020 may be eligible for a pro rata refund due to the sunsetting of the current Disneyland Resort Annual Passport program. The pro rata refund amount for each such Passport, if any, is unique to the Passport and is based on factors such as: how much has already been paid toward the Passport, any refunds already provided, and when the Passport was activated. Applicable pro rata refunds for any additional features attached to the Passport-such as parking-will be included in the Passport pro rata refund amount.

Pro Rata Refund Eligibility and Calculation for Valid, Activated Passports (See Below for Exceptions)

If the total amount paid toward a Passport (minus any refunds already given) exceeds the "usable value" of the Passport, that excess amount will be refunded for that Passport. The "usable value" of the Passport equals the total sales price of the Passport divided by the total number of access days to any theme park permitted under the Passport at activation and multiplied by the number of days that the Passport could have been used to visit any park per the terms of the Passport prior to March 14, 2020.

. Pro rata refund amount = Total amount paid toward a Passport (minus any refunds given) - Usable value of Passport

. Usable value of Passport = (Total sales price ± Total number of access days at activation) x Number of access days available prior to March 14, 2020

Pro Rata Refund Eligibility and Calculation for Passports That Were Renewed During the Theme Park Closure Period

Passports Paid in Full at Time of Purchase

If a Passport was renewed during the theme park closure period and the renewal price was paid in full, the total sales price paid for the renewed Passport will be refunded for such renewed Passport.

Additionally, for the previous Passport that expired during the theme park closure period, if the total amount paid for such Passport (minus any refunds already given) exceeds the "usable value" of the expired Passport, that excess amount will be refunded for that expired Passport. The "usable value" of the expired Passport equals the total sales price of the expired Passport or the renewed Passport (whichever is greater) divided by the total number of access days to any theme park permitted under the expired Passport at activation and multiplied by the number of days that the expired Passport could have been used to visit any park per the terms of the expired Passport prior to March 14, 2020.

. Pro rata refund amount = Total amount paid for renewed Passport + (Total amount paid toward the expired Passport (minus any refunds given) - Usable value of expired Passport)

. Usable value of expired Passport = (Total sales price of expired Passport or renewed Passport, whichever is greater + Total number of access days of expired Passport at activation) x Number of access days of expired Passport available prior to March 14, 2020

Passports Purchased Under the Monthly Payment Program

If a Passport was renewed during the theme park closure period under the monthly payment program, the monthly payment contract for the renewed Passport will be canceled and no monies will be owed under such contract.

Additionally, for the previous Passport that expired during the theme park closure period, if the total amount paid for such Passport (minus any refunds already given) exceeds the "usable value" of the expired Passport, that excess amount will be refunded for that expired Passport. The "usable value" of the expired Passport equals the total sales price of the expired Passport or the renewed Passport (whichever is greater) divided by the total number of access days to any theme park permitted under the expired Passport at activation and multiplied by the number of days that the expired Passport could have been used to visit any park per the terms of the expired Passport prior to March 14, 2020.

. Pro rata refund amount = Total amount paid toward expired Passport (minus any refunds given) - Usable value of expired Passport

. Usable value of expired Passport = (Total sales price of expired Passport or renewed Passport, whichever is greater + Total number of access days of expired Passport at activation) x Number of access days of expired Passport available prior to March 14, 2020
