Tributes are being paid to a young mother who sadly passed away from cancer - just three weeks after walking down the aisle with the love of her life.

Nadine Lennon died on Friday amid a courageous fight with the disease. She married her partner Leigh Watters at St Vincent's University Hospital chapel in Dublin on April 14.

Nadine, a 30-year-old mother to two children, had been diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in 2021.

And on social media, tributes were flowing for Nadine after her family shared the news of her death, saying they wanted their "angel" back.

In a heartbreaking post on Facebook, the family said: "Our angel, we want you back.

"The Lennon Watters family would like to inform you that Nadine passed away yesterday at 4pm, in the loving arms of her husband Leigh and family.

"Nadine was so strong and fought right up until the very end.

"She will always be in our hearts and her legacy will live on through her beautiful children, Nathan and Daisy.

"Nadine would be so grateful for all the love and support each and everyone of her followers has been expressing."

And in a further outpouring of grief, friends of Nadine have expressed their devastation at her passing.

One wrote: "I can't understand how this happened, you were so beautiful, thoughtful and an amazing mother.

"I'm so glad to have known you and through my job help you. But this is not fair and you should not be gone. May you rest in peace beautiful girl."

Another wrote: "Such heartbreaking news. May you get the best bed in heaven, a true warrior, an inspiration to all women and a true fighter."

Nadine got married in the hospital chapel after receiving the news that her chemo was not working and she was running out of time.

The beautiful bride managed to get out of her wheelchair and walk up the aisle to Leigh.

She said at the time: "This is my dream come true in the best possible way I thought it could possibly happen, if not more.

"Even though, it's the hardest of times, I'm very lucky to have all my family around me and their support has been incredible.

"I didn't know if I could walk up the aisle but I DID. It all just couldn't have gone any better especially under the circumstances.

"Thank you to everyone who helped and supported me in getting here today, especially my parents, family and friends and to the staff for making it happen."
