The House of Commons has summoned MPs on Friday and Saturday for a series of events that will symbolize on a political level the end of the reign of Elizabeth II and the beginning of that of her eldest son, Charles III.
The British Lower House has canceled the plenary session scheduled for 9.00 on Friday (local time) and, instead, will meet from noon for MPs to pay tribute to the late queen. The session is expected to last about ten hours.
Already on Saturday, at 14.00 (local time), a "small number" of deputies, those of the highest rank, will swear allegiance to the new monarch, according to a statement from the legislative body.
