Large Brush Fire In Marlborough Forces Street Closures

A brush fire was burning Saturday morning in Marlborough's desert natural area.

MARLBOROUGH, MA - Marlborough police closed Concord Road Saturday morning as firefighters battled a brush fire for the second day in a row.

The fire was burning near the desert natural area located near Mosher Lane and Concord Road. Around 11:30 a.m., Concord Road was closed between Sudbury Street and Hemenway Street Extension, according to Marlborough police.

Smoke from the fire could be seen as far away as Sudbury and other nearby communities.

"Please be advised there is a brush fire on the Marlborough/Sudbury Town Line, near the Red Oak Drive area, firefighters are battling for the second day. Numerous resources have been brought to bear in an effort to extinguish the fire," Sudbury police said Saturday morning. "Our Sudbury Public Safety Center continues to be inundated with 911 calls and business calls relative to the fire. Please be cognizant we are aware of the brush fire already."

A brush fire strike team comprised of firefighters from 14 local departments were on scene battling the brush fire for most of the day Friday. Wayland firefighters posted this image of Friday's fire:
