The celebrity lifestyle tends to require a lot of movement and jet-setting to get the job done. While the public may see this as extravagant and adventurous, there are those who don't quite agree with the joy that flying brings. Some star celebrities may travel the world, but they do so with white knuckles. These nine celebrities have openly commented on their fear of flying and what they think about setting off into the sky.

While some who fear flying can't really pinpoint a reason, Ben Affleck has more than enough evidence behind him to fear flights. When the actor was nine years old, he took his first solo flight to Washington, D.C.. During the flight, the plane was struck by lightning, setting the vehicle on fire while still midair. That would be traumatizing to someone of any age - safe to say his fears are completely justifiable.

Kate Winslet doesn't trust flying and, as a result, she doesn't take any chances. The Titanic actress doesn't feel comfortable on-board planes and even refuses to fly with her husband by her side. Her worst fear is a plane crash taking out both of them, leaving their children orphaned and alone. Instead, they take separate flights to ensure both parties are safe.

Megan Fox has no clue where her fear of flying came from, but it seemed to develop around age 20. Since then, Fox has dealt with panic attacks just from boarding the plane. As a result, she's come up with a dependable routine to calm the stress - throw on some classic Britney Spears and ride it out. Funnily enough, Britney Spears herself isn't a fan of flying and gets anxious on her own flights.

Jennifer Aniston is no stranger when it comes to flying, but her fears have held her back from seeing places around the world she's dreamed of. The actress panicked when, for her 50th birthday, the plane she and friends were taking to Cabo emitted a loud explosive sound. While she freaked out, no one else on the plane was overly anxious. The flight took off and ultimately had to turn around for maintenance, leaving the crew to grab another flight to Cabo. Though they made it safely, her fears have kept her primarily grounded since.

Though she's won an Oscar and appeared in several locations on screen, Sandra Bullock doesn't enjoy the travel aspect of her work - rightly so. The actress was on a flight in 2000 that actually crashed in Wyoming. Despite coming out of it all right, the experience left her understandably shaken. Bullock faced her fears in 2013 to star in Gravity, believing that the role was the universe telling her to get over her aerophobia.

Another entry with real trauma behind the fear, Travis Barker didn't board a plane for 13 years after being involved in a plane crash in 2008. The Blink-182 drummer was on board as a plane fell, killing four people, including two who worked for him, and left his body badly burned. Avoiding the skies for years after, Barker finally boarded again in 2021 with Kourtney Kardashian to face his fears.

Jennifer Connelly doesn't hold back when it comes to her fears. The actress has openly admitted that she's a wreck when she has to fly and she doesn't do well on planes of any size due to her crippling anxiety. Of course, the actress signed on to Top Gun: Maverick believing that she wouldn't see any sky time. However, she was thrown for a loop when she was told she'd be flying in a P-51 with Cruise himself and had to face her biggest fears.

DJ Khaled doesn't do well with flying since a disturbing flight he took in the 2000s. The rapper came out of the experience so traumatized that he refused to board any plane and stuck solely with a tour bus for the next decade. He first took to the skies again in 2019, deciding that if his young son could fly comfortably, then it was possible for him to do so as well.

Nothing creates trauma quite like an emergency landing after a double engine failure. On a flight from Kentucky to New York, Jennifer Lawrence experienced pure panic as the plane she was on had to drop from 31,000 feet to an emergency landing without any warning. While all on board were safe after landing, the experience terrified her and led to her going to therapy to attempt to deal with the occurrence. Since then, she's been jumpy on flights, even attempting to jump out of an Air France flight due to claustrophobia.
