IKEA is selling a rainbow flag version of its famous blue FRAKTA bag in celebration of International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT) on Monday 17th May, and Pride month in June.
The limited-edition bags, which hit shelves next week, are part of IKEA's 'Progress is Made' campaign - an initiative which encourages staff and customers to show support for a world where everyone can feel at home.
Coming in two sizes, the STORSTOMMA carrier bag will cost £1.50 and 75p, respectively, with 100 per cent of sales going to support LGBTQ+ initiatives, charities and causes chosen by IKEA.
'At IKEA, we are committed to creating a fair and equal world for both our co-workers and customers, no matter their gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, nationality or disability,' says Carin Hammer Blakebrough, People & Culture Manager, IKEA UK and Ireland.
'As part of our "Progress is Made" campaign, we recognise that although as a company we've come a long way, progress requires work, guts and imagination - and there's still a lot of work to do.
'That's why, as we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community today and every day, we're encouraging our co-workers and customers to do their part in becoming stronger allies for the LGBT+ community. For example, by speaking out if you hear discriminatory language or by sharing your personal pronouns (she, they, him) in your work email or on your social media platforms.'
IKEA first launched its Pride bag back in 2019, and then again last year to help raise money for charities. The bags will be available to purchase in store and online from Monday 17th May, while stocks last. Make sure not to miss out...
