Mason Greenwood and teammate Amad have ended a 15-year wait to equal a Premier League record together for Manchester United.

The youthful duo both started United's clash against Leicester at Old Trafford on Tuesday as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made 10 changes to the lineup which beat Aston Villa at the wekend.

Only Greenwood kept his place in the starting XI, while Amad was handed his first Premier League start since joining in January.

And it didn't take the pair long to make an impact, combining for United's equaliser after just 15 minutes following Luke Thomas' thumping opener.

Leicester had produced a well worked team move to release Youri Tielemans down the right flank, whose cross found Thomas at the far post to volley into the top corner.

But Greenwood and Amad soon pulled United back level.

Much of it was down to Greenwood's sharpness inside the box, as he collected a pass from Amad before skipping round Foxes' defender Caglar Soyuncu and firing low into the far corner.

The last time the feat was achieved was in Middlesborugh's 1-1 draw with Bolton in that campaign, when defender David Wheater set up disgraced former England international Adam Johnson to score.

Sadly for Greenwood and Amad, Soyuncu later had the last laugh.

Leicester came into their own as the game wore on and they went in search of a winner.

Both teams turned to star names from the bench as United introduced Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford while Leicester brought on James Maddison.

And it brought an immediate impact, as Rashford lost Soyuncu from a corner moments later as the centre-back leaped highest to power home a header just past the hour mark.

From there Leicester were able to hold on as Man Utd's defeat handed the title to rivals Man City, yet Solskjaer was buoyed by the performances of his young guns.

"The young kid, Amad, did really well," the United boss said. "Mason, again, he looked like a seasoned professional out there. He's only 19 and the way he's played today, very, very good."

Midfielder and captain for the night Nemanja Matic was also impressed with United's youngsters - who included debutant Anthony Elanga.

"The young players who played tonight did an amazing job and showed that the club can count on them in the future," Matic said to ManUtd.com.

"They showed that they will be very important for our club in the future. They played with personality, they showed the character, so I was very happy to see them on the pitch.

"The way they played was great, against a very good side in Leicester, it's not easy to play."
