Former Leeds United ace Noel Whelan has been raving over midfielder Kalvin Phillips after he hit a huge milestone on Monday night.

Pundit in awe of Phillips

The defensive midfielder made his 200th appearance for Leeds in the 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace. Whelan told Football Insider: "A big milestone for Kalvin Phillips last night - 200 appearances for his boyhood club Leeds United, I mean wow, that is an amazing achievement for somebody who is still so young.

"He is such an important player for us so hopefully there are many more appearances to come. He has been a great servant for Leeds United."

Leeds could have a legend in their ranks

It has truly been a remarkable year for the Phillips. On top of reaching this great milestone, he has been vital in getting the club back into England's top flight and has also become an England player, with Gareth Southgate seemingly growing fond of the player (Transfermarkt).

He is a big reason as to why Leeds currently sit in the top half of the Premier League, as he has managed 2.7 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and 1.8 clearances a game (WhoScored).

To reach 200 appearances for one club at such a young age, he's only 25, emphasises how crucial he is to the club, and it is scary to think how much he can continue to grow as a player as he gets closer to his prime.

In other news, one pundit has discussed one Leeds player following his latest setback. Have a read here!
