Although doctors were hopeful Nick Cordero would be removed from a ventilator, the Broadway star will stay hooked up to a breathing machine after developing a new fever.
Cordero's wife, Amanda Kloots, said his coronavirus recovery took an unexpected turn Monday, revealing that her husband has "a fever that caused his blood pressure to drop slightly."

"Unfortunately, they are not able to remove the ventilator today and put the trach (tracheostomy) in," Kloots said in an Instagram Story.
Kloots said doctors have put Cordero back on blood pressure medication, which he previously stopped taking, as a result of the sudden drop.
"They are trying to just really make sure that this fever doesn't go anywhere," she added. "So they are doing a couple tests to find out the source of this fever."

Kloots said doctors originally planned to remove Cordero from a ventilator and perform a tracheostomy on Monday to "make him more comfortable." But those plans have been set aside "until they get (the fever) under control," Kloots said Monday.
Cordero, who was nominated for a Tony Award for his work on "Bullets Over Broadway," remains in a medically induced coma after having his right leg amputated over coronavirus complications.
The "Rock of Ages" star was admitted to the hospital for what was initially thought to be pneumonia, Kloots wrote on Instagram on April 1. An initial coronavirus test came up negative, though a subsequent test was positive for COVID-19.
On Friday, Kloots revealed that Cordero tested negative for the coronavirus, the same day he had a procedure to insert a temporary pacemaker after having some irregular heartbeats.
"Which means we think the virus is out of his system and now we're just dealing with recovery and getting his body back from all the repercussions of the virus," Kloots said on her Instagram Story. "Hopefully the virus is out of Nick, thank God."
