Earlier this week, we brought you the story of Matthew McConaughey telling the story of how his mother "knew" Woody Harrelson's father and that there's a slim chance they're *actually* brothers.
"In Greece a few years ago, we're sitting around talking about how close we are and our families. And my mom is there, and she says, 'Woody, I knew your dad.' Everyone was aware of the ellipses that my mom left after 'knew.' It was a loaded K-N-E-W," McConaughey said during a recent appearance on Kelly Ripa's podcast.
Naturally, that has led to some increased research into the histories of the McConaughy and Harrelson families, with the past of Woody's father Charles, in particular, having caught the attention of the internet.
As it turns out, Woody's father Charles Harrelson was involved in multiple murder schemes and was also allegedly involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
"In September 1980, Harrelson surrendered to police after a six-hour standoff in which he was reportedly high on cocaine. During the standoff, he threatened suicide, stating that he had killed both Judge Wood and President John F. Kennedy," the JFK assassination section on Charles' Wikipedia page says, citing a 1982 issue of Texas Monthly.
Woody's life path, obviously has turned out quite differently, as the 61-year-old has been acting for over four decades now and has been nominated for three Academy Awards.
Harrelson, who has starred in everything from comedies to dramas to action blockbusters, is best known for his work in films such as The People vs. Larry Flynt, Natural Born Killers, No Country For Old Men, Zombieland, Solo: A Star Wars Story, War for the Planet of the Apes, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
