Exploding onto the virtual battlefield and into the charts on Steam worldwide, BattleBit Remastered combines an old-school artistic design with a surprisingly advanced, interactive first-person shooter for players new and seasoned to the genre. With field sizes as high as 254 players and an assortment of weapons, vehicles, and customization options for players, the game provides an incredibly deep variety in a low-poly package that could easily be underestimated.

BattleBit Remastered fits the mold of a classic first-person shooter in a variety of ways, one of which is the option for players to choose from 6 distinctly different classes, each with their own loadout and perks. Whether the preferred playstyle is to run and shoot, help keep comrades or vehicles running, or to pick a cozy corner to dispatch opponents at will, BattleBit Remastered has something for everyone. There is quite a bit to consider for each class in terms of what perks, abilities, and restrictions each one has, so it is best to carefully consider which class suits particular styles of play.

The "default" class in BattleBit Remastered is the Assault class, which, as the name would suggest, is primarily concerned with accumulating kills and doing as much damage to the opposition as possible. Since this is the primary objective of the Assault class, players with this loadout are gifted with speed boosts in weapon swap speed, reload speed, and a sharp reduction in the time it takes to aim down a weapon's scope.

The Assault class is also equipped with additional tools to support the "bull in a china shop" mentality, with a sledgehammer for a more efficient breaking down of obstacles, as well as a grappling hook to access vantage points more efficiently. A unique feature of this class is the riot shield, which complements the default heavy body armor protective option.

The Recon class is perhaps the least surprising class when it comes to its features, however, it is absolutely a necessity for any reputable shooting game. Recons support long-range warfare with the availability of an assortment of Designated Marksman Rifles and Sniper Rifles for those heavy-hitting, one-shot kills. This class is undoubtedly the most powerful when it comes to firepower and is the only one capable of consistently wiping out hostile players in one shot. Nevertheless, this is at the expense of having fewer perks than other classes.

As the Recon class packs light, players with this loadout will only be able to carry 3 bandages and cannot equip a helmet, making them as vulnerable to headshots as the enemies they fire at. However, they have a grappling hook at their disposal for quicker access to ideal vantage points and have the capacity to unlock an Air Drone to help locate the next target.

The Leader class bears many similarities to the Assault class, with the exception that the player has some cosmetic differences to make them identifiable, as well as a couple of extra abilities and gadgets. The Squad Leader can ping targets to direct their unit to a particular objective, which is achieved by simply clicking the mouse wheel (on the default setting).

The Leader has an additional bandage and grenade to help support their team. However, as they are the brain trust of the group they do not have access to heavier armor options or any other backpacks aside from the standard size. Additional skills in the Leader class include Air Drone, Bino Soflam, and the ability to set respawn points to get the team into action sooner. For those struggling to find how to become a Leader, it can be achieved by leaving any currently assigned squad in the respawn menu and forming a new squad.

The Medic class is made for the selfless soldier. While each class has the ability to revive their comrades, the Medic is the only one capable of recovering lost health and getting the team good as new. Their arsenal is primarily concerned with small machine guns and other lighter weapons, however, they are also able to equip any assault rifles.

One of the Medic's unique selling points is its secondary gadget, the Medic Kit, which they are able to drop for teammates to use to replenish their health. This is the only method by which a player can be healed on the field, and the Medic Kit is an infinite source of recovery that can be collected again by the Medic to distribute at another location.

The Support class is the soldier's best friend. With a backpack full of extra ammunition, the capability to repair cover, and accessibility to the heaviest armor in BattleBit Remastered, the Support class will look to do the hard yards for the sake of the team.

Support players are the only ones capable of constructing cover, which can be crucial in protecting the squad from hostile gunfire. To complement this, they also have 3 heavy ammunition kits with them that will enable the player and their comrades to restock on bullets, gadgets, and throwable weapons. Unique to the Support class is the Exo armor, which is the heaviest in the game and will slow down the player, but will make for far sturdier protection from enemy gunfire.

The Engineer class is perfect for those who would rather heal machines than man. Equipped with all the tools needed to both reassemble and disassemble vehicles, this class is best used for those with a tendency to become entangled with tanks, helicopters, or transports when on the battlefield. Engineers are the only ones capable of carrying a repair tool, which can be used to restore any damaged vehicles in use and return them to their original deadly glory.

On the other side of the coin, Engineers will just as readily take a vehicle out if it poses a threat. As the only class with RPGs and anti-vehicle grenades, players in this class will be capable of grounding hostile aircraft and ground combat vehicles. On top of this, what perhaps makes the Engineer class the most favorable in BattleBit Remastered is the wide arsenal of weapons and armor options available for use. Except for sniper rifles and heavy machine guns, Engineers can wield just about any gun, making it an ideal candidate for a range of different playing styles.

BattleBit Remastered is now available on PC via Steam.
