"Frankie will never get to see her family again and as for her unborn child who never even got a chance in life"

"Life can be turned upside down in the blink of an eye."

Hollyoaks stars past and present have paid heartfelt tributes to actor Frankie Hough after she was tragically killed in a road accident.

Frankie - who played Jess Holt in the soap from 2000 - was in a car with her two young sons, Thomas, aged nine, and two-year-old Rocky, and her nephew, Tobias, who's four, on the M66 in Manchester when the crash happened.

According to a GoFundMe page set to raise money for her family, 38-year-old Frankie was also pregnant with a baby girl. Along with her children and nephew, Frankie was transported via air ambulance to hospital where she was put in critical care on Saturday 13 May. "Life can be turned upside down in the blink of an eye." starts the post written by her friend, Debbie Wright, on the Go FundMe page.

Two days later, there was another update: "Sadly Frankie lost her fight and her and her unborn baby girl passed away early hours Monday morning. Words cannot express what her family and friends are going through now, not to mention her poor boys who now have to grow up without their mummy and sister they never got to meet."

As the news has gradually circulated, the tributes from those touched by Frankie's life have come flooding in.

On hearing the news, actor Paul Danan, who plays Sol, has shared two emotional posts on Instagram. "I just heard the most shocking upsetting news I've heard in such a long time," he wrote in a caption under a photo of Frankie. "Another good good friend who was such a special person has sadly passed away while carrying her unborn baby."

In another post, under a photo of them in a Hollyoaks scene together, he wrote: "Managed to get some better pics of me and my beautiful talented Gorgeous friend and co star "Jess"(@hollyoaksofficial ). [...] Frankie will never get to see her family again and as for her unborn child who never even got a chance in life let alone her two little Gorgeous boys and nephew won't see their mum or aunty again."

"My heart and prayers goes out to them and the husband who g-d knows how he's coping right now and also her adorable sister's and parents," he continued. "I am truly devastated and hurting more than u know, to only find this out yesterday 2 weeks after it happened i feel a bit hopeless."

Amongst the hundreds of commenters under Paul's post was former Hollyoaks actor James Redmond (who played Rory "Finn" Finnigan from June 1998 to January 2002), writing: "Awful news, so young too. R.I.P., thoughts with her family ??".

Along with presenter Lizzie Cundy, who wrote "So sorry ??????????", and singer Lisa Moorish, "Oh mate I'm so sorry ????????." Actor Lamissah La-Shontae's sums up how everyone is feeling, writing simply: "?? heartbreaking".

The man driving the car that hit Frankie was being driven by Adil Iqbal, who's 22 years old. He's admitted to causing Frankie's death by dangerous driving.

The most recent update from the GoFundMe pages reads: "The family want to say: 'Thank you so much for the beautiful comments and all your kind donations we are overwhelmed with the support, we have no words for your kindness at this time. Our page will go towards the families effected and our boys recovery. We can hopefully give Tommy, Tobias & Rocky life changing experiences when they recover and help build back our family in memory of our angel Franki. ??"
