Tory London Mayoral hopeful Mozammel Hossain has said that London will have its own trade envoy as one of his deputy mayors if he gets elected to City Hall next year.
The plan has been revealed to Express.co.uk on the seventh anniversary of the historic EU referendum.
The top KC shocked the political establishment by getting shortlisted to be the Conservative candidate for London Mayor but was branded by his opponents as "the Remainer" in the final three.
However, speaking to Express.co.uk, Mr Hossain has revealed he believes that it is not Brexit which has held London back but Sadiq Khan who has used leaving the EU "as an excuse for his own failures".
Mr Hossain instead said that he wants to use the opportunities of Brexit and will not be afraid of telling Rishi Sunak that he needs to scrap more EU red tape.
Growing up in a mud hut in Bangladesh as the eighth child who did not even own a pair of shoes until he was 16 before moving to London graduating and becoming a senior barrister, Mr Hossain feels his story illustrates the opportunities he wants London to have as well.
Mr Hossain made it clear that his attitude to Brexit reflected a different approach to life than Sadiq Khan has.
He said: "Sadiq Khan never blames himself, he always finds a great excuse for many of his failures in London.
"He blames Brexit and I promise you this, I will not be like him.
"Because all my life I have taken responsibility. If I am running a team, as I do as a barrister, and I work with different people, junior barristers, policy, legals experts, I take responsibility.
"If we fail, it is my failure. If we win, I share the glory with everybody."
He went on: "There are great opportunities out of Brexit. I promise you I will be working with the Government closely to take away regulations and make them pro-business.
"That should be one of the greatest benefits of Brexit in London."
He warned that the continued red tape and regulations mean that "a lot of businesses are not listing in London. They're going elsewhere."
"We want to be able to attract people from all over the world.
"If you come here there is a good supply of homes and they want their employees to go around the city quickly in an efficient and affordable manner and if we take the opportunities of Brexit deregulate, then big investors come, don't they?"
But more than that Mr Hossain has plans to help promote "the most magic city in the world" to bring in new business, investment and jobs.
He said: "I will appoint a deputy mayor for international trade.
"This person's job will be working with the government promote London businesses around the world.
"This person will focus on finding new markets in the commonwealth, wherever.
"I'll be working very closely with them."
In another dig at Khan, he added: "That should be one of the greatest opportunities out of Brexit.
"You just have to not worry about the past and moan about it.
"You have to always find positive and Brexit offers those positive opportunities and arguably grab them in both hands."
