A Metropolitan Police officer has been convicted of outraging public decency after he exposed himself in a North London park earlier this year. Detective Constable Dariusz Alexander was found guilty after he was caught committing an 'indecent act' at Hampstead Heath on March 18.
A trial at Stratford Magistrates' Court, which concluded yesterday (Thursday 22 June), confirmed that the officer is given a conditional discharge, for six months, meaning if he does not commit any other offences during that period there will be no punishment. He has also been ordered to pay costs of £625 and a victim surcharge of £26.
Detective Superintendent Christina Jessah, in charge of the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command (RTPC), which Alexander was part of, said: "We know this incident understandably caused some concern and a thorough investigation was carried out by detectives. This ultimately led to DC Alexander's conviction and misconduct proceedings will now take place."

Alexander initially denied the charge at Thames Magistrate's Court. The incident happened whilst he was off-duty and he was immediately suspended before being charged in April.
Two Met officers were carrying out enquiries in the area that day relating to another incident which had occurred several days earlier in Hampstead Heath. As they were searching the area, one officer noticed a man looking at him whilst exposing himself.
They identified themselves as Met Police officers before arresting him. A warrant card was found during the search which identified Alexander as a Met officer.
Alexander, of Hornsey in Haringey, was unconditionally bailed before he later returned to court yesterday (June 22) for a trial.
