A Man Utd transfer has fallen through almost as quickly as it begun, though a second deal involving Borussia Dortmund is possible, per reports.
The headlines at Old Trafford this summer will be dominated by who arrives at goalkeeper, centre-back, central midfield and striker.
Axel Disasi is wanted in defence, while a third bid will soon be lodged for Chelsea's Mason Mount to tick the midfield box.
However, bubbling under the surface are a series of first-team exits. To that end, Zidane Iqbal is bound for the Netherlands after United accepted a bid from Utrecht.
Elsewhere, the Telegraph listed seven further players who could be sold this summer. Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, Fred, Scott McTominay, Anthony Elanga and Anthony Martial are among those Ten Hag plans to jettison out of Old Trafford.
Another who United will listen to offers for is Donny van de Beek. The Dutchman's time in Manchester has been nothing short of disastrous and a move back to mainland Europe has been speculated.
In fact, the trusted Gianluca Di Marzio reported United had gone above and beyond to spark an exit when offering Van de Beek to Roma.
A season-long loan was put to Roma, with Di Marzio claiming Jose Mourinho's side would consider the proposal in the next few days.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Roma have not taken long to reject the chance to sign Van de Beek.
Romano tweeted Roma are "currently not in talks or concrete negotiations to sign Donny [van de Beek]".
The transfer guru did stress the 26-year-old is exploring his exit options and several unnamed clubs are monitoring his situation. However, Roma aren't one of them and won't be signing the luckless midfielder.
However, one Man Utd exit that could go through involves fellow central midfielder, Hannibal Mejbri.
The tough-tackling Tunisia international, 20, thrived while loaned to Championship side Birmingham City last season.
The Manchester Evening News report Hannibal will be given a chance to shine in pre-season, though Borussia Dortmund could offer a way out if he fails his audition.
A number of clubs are courting Hannibal, though only Dortmund are namechecked in the piece. The German giant are eyeing a permanent deal and would reportedly be prepared to part with around ?15m (approx. £12.9m) to make it happen.
That would represent a profit on the roughly ?10m United spent to pluck Hannibal from Monaco in 2019.
Performance-related add-ons would also be included, while the MEN add United would seek to include a significant sell-on clause - just as they did in Iqbal's deal with Utrecht.
Whether Dortmund can proceed with their move for Hannibal will now depend on how he fares in pre-season.
If he impresses, it's suggested United may either retain him in the squad or opt for a loan. If he struggles, a permanent exit could be on the cards.
