TWO vineyards in and around Berkshire win gold at the WineGB Awards 2023, ahead of English Wine Week.
All Angels Vineyard in Newbury and Wyfold Vineyard in Henley-on-Thames won gold at the awards which saw a record number of entries, with more than 100 producers entering from across 27 counties.
All Angels Vineyard in Newbury won a gold award for its All Angels Classic Cuvée 2015 sparkling wine.
All Angels offers a private or corporate tour where you can learn about the vineyards and taste the current range.
Wyfold Vineyard in Henley-on-Thames also won gold for its Wyfold Vineyard Brut 2017 sparkling wine.
Wyfold also won silver for its Wyfold Vineyard 2018 Rose.
While Wyfold does not all visitors, it prides itself on exclusive award-winning wines.
A statement on its website says: "Wine is all we do here. There is no visitor centre, no gift shop or weddings, just our cherished vines growing the most exclusive sparkling wines in England, which we are sure you will love."
Speaking about the WineGB Awards 2023, co-chairman of the judges, Susie Barrie MW, said: "We were absolutely thrilled with the quality of the whole range of wines that we tasted this year. We consistently see great sparkling wines and they only get better. What is great to see though is the evolution of the other categories, especially amongst the still wines, and the quality we are seeing really shows such enormous potential for the future."
The Trophy winners, including the unveiling of the Supreme Champion - the Wine of the Year - will be announced at the WineGB Awards ceremony on Friday, July 7 in London.
