The World's 50 Best released their annual list of the world's top restaurants for 2023 this week featuring selections from Mexico, Denmark, Spain, Peru, France, Italy and the United States.
Among the countries with the top 10 restaurants, Spain is the most represented with three: Disfrutar, DiverXO and Asador Etxebarri.

Peru landed two entries, Maido at No. 6 and Central at No. 1, making the latter the best restaurant in the world.
The U.S. also netted two spots on the list, both in New York City: Atomix at No. 8, and Le Bernardin at No. 44.
Here are the best 10 restaurants in the world, with the descriptions from World's 50 Best (see the full list of 50 here).
Kicking off the top 10 is Table, which features a long wave counter creating private nooks and an open kitchen. Guests view the 'Colours of the Day' "a daily changing dish of the most seasonal herbs and vegetables" while cooks prepare lobster coated with temperate ghee.

Quintonil has only been around for a decade, according to the annual rankings, and is already a second-year top 10 contender, with a menu made from fresh, local ingredients with "traditional Mexican flavors."

Atomix provides a 12-course tasting menu of Korean-based plates in a 14-seat basement counter on the edge of Koreantown in Manhattan. "What's more, it has leapfrogged its continental rivals to be ranked The Best Restaurant in North America," the annual ranking reads.
Menu highlights from Lido 84 include the Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe en Vessie ? rigatoni pasta cooked inside a pig's bladder. The World's 50 Best describes it as "an almost poetic ode to craftmanship."

This Japanese restaurant with a Pervuvian heart includes 10 to 14 courses creating in what the World's 50 Best calls a "exciting gastronomic trip" for those who choose the tasting menu.
On Alchemist's menu: "Dishes with a deeper message," where guests dine on cod with edible plastic to "bring awareness to ocean pollution" or eat a chocolate bar shaped like a coffin to remind them about "child labour within the chocolate industry."
Asador Etxebarri is located in a rustic, stone building with mountainous views of the Spanish Basque Country. "There's no molecular gastronomy here ? a succulent red Palamós prawn is simply grilled and plated on its own, while mozzarella from the chef's own buffalo is served on a slice of the juiciest tomato," the rankings read.

The World's 50 Best describes Diverxo as a restaurant with "wacky art." It's tasting menu features roasted baby octopus with jamón essence and ending with mochi bonbons with Thai-style dulce de leche and finger lime.

Disfrutar's creative menu includes a doughnut is filled with caviar and cream cheese as well as a frozen gazpacho ice cream sandwich scented with vinegar.

From scallops to goat's neck, Central serves "unique culinary experiences." Its dishes "reflect the origin of their ingredients" from the restaurant's Dry Valley (shrimp, loche squash, avocado) to Amazonian Water (pacu fish, watermelon and coca leaf).
