Mason Mount to Man Utd is thundering towards completion after a trusted source revealed a hugely positive three-pronged update.
The Red Devils are seeking additions at goalkeeper, centre-back, central midfield and striker this summer. Regarding midfield, the player Erik ten Hag has fixed his gaze on is Chelsea's Mason Mount.
The 24-year-old is a two-time Chelsea player of the year and averages better than a goal contribution once every three games for the Blues (70 in 195).
But despite that, Mount has always split opinion among the Stamford Bridge faithful and a new chapter is looming.
Indeed, Mount has just one year remaining on his current deal and a move to Man Utd is taking shape.
United have already lodged two unsuccessful bids for Mount, with the latest worth £45m plus a further £5m in add-ons, per the Athletic.
Now, a fresh update from Fabrizio Romano has brought wholly encouraging news for those wishing to see Mount line up at Old Trafford.
Firstly, the trusted transfer guru tweeted personal terms between Man Utd and Mount are "100 percent sealed and agreed".
Secondly, Romano confirmed Mount has zero intention of signing a new deal at Chelsea despite the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino. The third piece of positive news comes in the form of Chelsea relaxing their demands.
The Blues were initially hoping to generate up to £75m for Mount, though will now come to the table if a package worth £60m-£65m is bid.
The Blues are described as being "flexible" in that regard and the drop in asking price will no doubt be greeted warmly at Old Trafford.
Indeed, Romano stressed Man Utd will not make "crazy" bids for Mount. However, given their latest effort (£50m) was worth just £10m below Chelsea's bottom end asking price, it appears highly likely common ground will soon be found.
To that end, Romano concluded United are pushing for a speedy resolution and a third and improved bid will soon be lodged.
Given Chelsea's relaxed demands, it may well prove to be third time lucky for Man Utd and Mount.
