Sky News contributor Steve Price says Melbourne is a "shambles" compared to Sydney.
Mr Price's remarks come as the Victorian capital came in third place on the EIU's global liveability index this year, just beating out Sydney, which was ranked fourth.
Mr Price said Lord Mayor of Melbourne Sally Capp rushed to get on camera on Seven's Sunrise show on Thursday to discuss the ranking.
"What an embarrassment she is and what a joke these lists are," he said.
"For Sally Capp to idiotically claim 'we are back baby' is an absolute embarrassment."
