An Aldi customer was shocked by the outrageous price of soup and casserole mix - but there's a simple explanation.
Karyn, from New South Wales, was browsing the vegetable aisle when she spotted the 500g packets of Fresh&Fast Soup & Casserole mix priced at an eye-watering $34.99.
She had to do a double take and asked a store worker assistance.
'Usually just a few dollars not $34.99,' she wrote alongside an image shared to the Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook group.
'I did advise staff but [they] said [there's] nothing they can do about it, then it scanned at $34.99! Inflation.'
Others were quick to comment on the scenario and many jumped to conclusions.
'Wonder how many people picked it up and threw it in their trolley without even looking at the price,' one wrote.
'People pay that price so expect supermarkets to charge that price,' another added.
However, many were quick to point out the high price was most likely a retail mishap.
'It's probably supposed to be $3.49! They've added an extra 9. I'd be calling head office,' one wrote.
'Has to be an error! No way this should be any more than $5,' another added. A third said: 'Even with inflation that is definitely not correct.'
Another said: 'I wonder how many unsuspecting people have just picked it up without checking the price and not noticed with a trolley full of groceries. They should just take it off the shelf. Clearly it's a pricing error.'
Daily Mail Australia understands it was a store error and the correct price is $3.99.
On the rare occasion this occurs, customers are encouraged to alert a store employee to ensure the error can be resolved quickly.
