Manchester United have made a fresh offer for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
The Red Devils have already had a £40m bid rejected by the Blues with Erik ten Hag desperate to see the England international move to Old Trafford this summer.
Mount, like the rest of the Chelsea squad, was off the boil last season with the 24-year-old only providing three goals and two assists in 24 Premier League appearances - but the Blues youth academy product has shown enough in recent seasons for Man Utd to be very interested in his services.
Chelsea are in a weakening position over Mount with the playmaker about to enter the final year on his contract and will be able to leave on a free next summer unless the Blues sell him soon.
And now Ornstein claims that Man Utd 'have submitted an improved offer worth up to £50million' to Chelsea for Mount.
Ornstein added: 'Chelsea have countered this and requested a £60m fee plus £5m in add-ons. The United bid consists of a £45m initial fee plus £5m in add-ons.'
The journalist continues by saying that the Red Devils 'have a limit' on what they are prepared to pay for Mount with 'Chelsea are keen to comply with the England international's wishes and Manchester United will not keep improving their offer'.

The sale of Mount is one way of Chelsea balancing the books after Todd Boehly spent £600m on new transfers in his first two windows as the owner at Stamford Bridge.
Boehly is managed to raise more funds by selling a number of players to Saudi Arabia and former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara is fuming that Mount is being allowed to leave.
"I think Boehly's a disgrace," O'Hara told talkSPORT. "What they're doing is downgrading Mason Mount, a top player, homegrown player, been at the club since he was 10.
"Loves the football club, but because he's come in and spent £600m on bang average players, you now need to balance the books and you're downgrading for a Mudryk whose £70m and has been garbage.
"That for me just shows how he's not meant to run a football club.
"He doesn't understand homegrown talent, he doesn't understand academy players, he doesn't understand you need those players in your dressing room.
"Mason Mount is Chelsea, and now Chelsea have to get rid of him just to balance the books."
