A woman and a child have been rushed to hospital after they were hit by a car outside St Aloysius College.

A woman and child have been rushed to hospital after they were hit by a car outside a school during the morning drop-off in Adelaide.

Police believe a 38-year-old woman and a six-year-old girl were hit by a Toyota station wagon outside St Aloysius College, private girls' school, about 8.30am.

Both were taken to hospital. The woman ?suffered serious injuries, while the child suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the car, a 51-year-old Ferryden Park man, was reported for aggravated driving without due care.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Angas Street near the intersection of Moore Street has since reopened.

Police along with major crash officers are attending the scene and will investigate.
