According to reports, ESPN is set to cancel "Keyshawn, J-Will and Max." The show, which features former NFL player Keyshawn Johnson, former NBA player Jay Williams and Max Kellerman, was featured on ESPN radio and simulcast on television.
The show occupied the 6-8 AM slot on the network and was often fans' first introduction to the day's sports news.
Before KJM, the show that occupied that time slot was the beloved "Mike and Mike," which featured Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic.
"Mike and Mike" aired for seventeen years across various ESPN networks, and the impending cancellation of KJM is leading fans to reminisce about one of their favorite shows.
"ESPN never figured out how to replace Mike and Mike," one fan said. "It was somehow the perfect mix of foolishness, bland interviews, and sports to start the day."
"ESPN Radio used to be such a powerhouse.....Mike and Mike, LeBatard, Cowherd, SVP and Russillo," another fan said. "Now the whole day is filled with a constantly shifting lineup of uninteresting shows."
"Had Mike and Mike for decades but they let little Mike get a big head and ran off the Mike who carried the show," one fan noted.
"Nothing compared to Mike and Mike," another fan added. "They did an incredible job of addressing the top stories of the day with the biggest guests in the country."
ESPN is planning to replace KJM with another radio show after it is eventually canceled, but it seems that fans won't hold it in high regard.
