It's been a few years since Travis Scott wore a head-to-toe Arc'tyrex outfit and simultaneously brought the once niche 'gorp-core' aesthetic to the mainstream. Since then, the momentum has continued to lift the technical apparel brand to new heights. With stablemate Salomon, the Amer Sports brands have grown exponentially in global markets. And it hasn't taken long for the dead bird to receive its first NSW store in Bondi Junction. We were invited along to check it out.

With two communities growing together, the new store serves as an outlet for both the adventure sports community and the fashion subcultures that have embraced the brand in recent times. Australia's interest in adventure sports such as rock climbing, trail running and mountain biking has grown rapidly over the past few years, with the trail running community reported to have grown by 12% year on year for the past decade.
"We've been serving the Australian outdoor community for over a decade, but the store will afford us the opportunity to connect on an even more impactful level. Sydney has been identified as the Australian hub for the brand, and we're excited to help our community get out there and experience the New South Wales outdoors, preserving it in the process," said Hayden Stevens, Arc'teryx Australia Marketing Manager.
Beyond the Gore-tex, all of the brand's garments are made using ethically and sustainably sourced materials. And while they have a reputation for being on the pricier side of the equation, every garment comes with free repairs through Arc'teryx's unique ReBird programme - which will be in operation at the Bondi Junction store. Additionally, every order placed through the website is delivered for free using carbon-neutral delivery.
To further this commitment, the Bondi Junction store has been constructed with a carbon-neutral build and will offer on-site repair and a range of second-hand apparel to boot.
"The more time we're able to spend in a place, the more we're able to design apparel and gear that best suits that environment. Our Sydney launch will allow us to explore the mountains, bush and coastline of New South Wales, and continue to develop our range in line with what our community here really needs," says Hayden.
As well as showcasing Arc'teryx's range of gear and apparel through retail and interactive demos, the Bondi Junction store will act as the base for a series of community events. Confirmed events so far include a ski night, a climbing party and a group trail run. Check out the Arc'teryx website via the link below for more information.
