The Washington Wizards have already made one of the biggest trades in recent NBA history this offseason. Washington shipped former All-Star guard Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns in a deal that could change the entire NBA landscape.
The Wizards appear to be set to enter a full rebuild after new president Michael Winger's takeover, and one NBA insider says they could make another big trade ahead of Thursday's NBA Draft.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Wizards and Boston Celtics are considering the idea of a trade centered around Kristaps Porzingis.
A sign-and-trade deal that results in Washington taking on a large, soon-to-expire contract along with draft capital is the likeliest outcome if the two teams agree to a deal.
After trading Bradley Beal to the Suns, it seems that the Wizards are finally hitting the reset button. Kyle Kuzma has opted out of his contract and is expected to join another team in free agency, and moving Porzingis for draft picks would be another forward-thinking decision.
For Boston, Porzingis would be a player with a lot of value. He's able to affect the game on both ends and gives the team another big man that can space the floor, similar to what Al Horford already does for them.
The Celtics will be looking to add Porzingis in an effort to get back to the NBA Finals after falling to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals this season.
