All signs indicate that Jaylen Brown is set to re-sign with the Boston Celtics this offseason. Well, almost all signs.
On Wednesday morning, popular Twitter account "Ghost of Leroy" tweeted this:
"Hearing Jaylen Brown will be leaving the Boston Celtics via a sign and trade bark bark bark."
Upon first glance, this Twitter account doesn't seem to be the most reliable source. But, the account - presumably run by Barstool Sports' PFT Commenter - has broken some serious sports news in the past.
The account had early reports about Aaron Rodgers signing with New York, Daniel Jones' contract extension, Fernando Tatis Jr.'s suspension and more.
According to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, the Celtics do not intend on trading Brown and plan on signing him with a five-year, $295 million supermax extension.
Brown became eligible for a supermax deal after earning All-NBA honors this past season. But, the league's new CBA is designed to punish teams for paying multiple stars, leading to speculation about Brown's future with the team after a disappointing Eastern Conference Finals loss to the Miami Heat.
With these conflicting reports swirling, the 2023 NBA Draft will begin tomorrow evening.
