Emmerdale fans have expressed their concern that murderous villain Lachlan White could soon be making a return to the village after his name continued to crop up this week.
The first mention of the deadly villain occurred when Belle was informed that her former flame was being moved from the prison he had been carrying out his sentence in, to a location closer to her home.
Following the news of the move, Belle was clearly left shaken by the revelation given the terrifying impact he had had on her life, with her evil ex being mentioned several more times, after no news about Lachlan for around four years.
While the news could simply be innocuous, fans at home are convinced it's hinting towards a bigger storyline and have even predicted that Lachlan may escape during his transfer and come to seek vengeance on Belle and her family for their role in his arrest.
Taking to Twitter to express their concerns, fans were quick to share their thoughts as they predicted a terrifying return of the villain in the coming weeks.
"Are they leading up to Lachlan coming back/ breaking out?" Asked one worried fan.
A second fan also agreed, as they commented: "How long till Lachlan returns? Because I feel it's definitely on the cards with so many mentions of him."
A third even commented: "It will be crazy if it does turn out that Lachlan is returning."
Before a fourth viewer soon added: "Is Lachlan going to eventually come back and kill off?"
Lachlan first moved to Emmerdale in 2014 when his mum moved in with her then-fiance, Robert Sugden, before immediately finding himself embroiled in some dark but gripping storylines, including the sexual assault of Alicia Metcalfe and the accidental shooting of Lawrence.
He also callously murdered his best friend Gerry Roberts, and even developed an unhealthy obsession with Belle Dingle which later turned into a toxic relationship.
After discovering his crimes, Belle turned informant and lied to Lachlan's face that she would run away with him, all while luring him into a stand-off with armed police, where he was later arrested for his crimes and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Emmerdale continues weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX
