A woman was enraged when her brother banned her autistic son from his wedding despite other youngsters being invited. The mother took to Mumsnet to vent her frustration at her sibling's decision to only invite her child along after the ceremony and meal.

She wrote on the parenting forum: "My brother is getting married. I'm one of the bridesmaids.

"I have three kids, the older two are also part of the bridal party (both teenagers). My youngest son (also a teenager) has autism.

"He's not being included and I've been told he can come after the ceremony and after food.

Blood pressure is measured in millimetres of mercury (mmHg) and is given as 2 figures:

Systolic pressure - The pressure when your heart pushes blood out

Diastolic pressure - The pressure when your heart rests between beats

As a general guide: ideal blood pressure is considered to be between 90/60mmHg

She went on to write how she felt very hurt and upset her son was being left out, blasting her brother for "the pretence" of this being "best for him".

The woman said: "[He did no] consulting with us his parents.

"The groom doesn't spend any time with said son so has no idea on what's best and what's not!

"My brother can't see that he's done anything wrong!"

"If anything my son won't be comfortable in the evening do because of the loud music and potentially drunk noisy people as expected."

She then asked if she was being unreasonable at feeling really hurt and sad about the situation or whether her brother was being unreasonable.

The woman's post saw an outpouring of supportive comments from fellow Mumsnet users.

One wrote: "I would also be exceptionally hurt by this. How do you think he would cope during the ceremony and meal?"

The user added that as the parent of a child with special educational needs, her heart ached for her.

Another recommended she simply ignore her brother's request, writing: "Are you in the UK and is the ceremony a legal marriage or is the legal marriage being done at a registry office instead?

"I ask, because he can't be barred from the ceremony if it is the legal wedding bit.

"It is an open public event (to allow any objections to be made, if required). So he could just turn up - though that is perhaps a bit of a nuclear option!"

Another Mumsnet user said: "I would back out now to be honest."

A fourth observed: "They should have spoken to you, you know your child and what they can/can't cope with and you are not going to put him through anything difficult.

"As a fellow [autism spectrum disorder] mum, I know that you already know your child can get overwhelmed."

They added sarcastically: "Maybe they think you haven't noticed. It's a sh***y thing for them to have done."
