Cross-platform play has quickly become an essential feature all online games are expected to have these days, as it makes playing with your friends (or just finding matches) much more convenient, however, cross-platform parity can be difficult to achieve, as seen with this recent Diablo 4 discovery, where players learned that mounts can straight up move faster on the game's PC version.

At first, some console players had thought it was a glitch or something they were doing wrong. Indeed, there is a way to optimize your speed by perfectly timing your boosts, but, on top of that, Diablo 4 PC players can go even faster on mounts by performing a trick that console players have no access to.

If you're on mouse and keyboard, the farther your mouse is from your character, the faster you'll move, so, by pushing the mouse as far is it can go to the edge of the screen, PC players can reach a speed that's beyond what's possible for console players. All console players can do, of course, is push the joy-stick on their controller, Doing so gives them a set speed that can only be increased by boosting.

User u/Competitive-Trade-16 posted a video on Reddit showing off a PC player easily passing them as they both rode upwards on their mounts, and the comments were filled with other Diablo 4 players relaying similar experiences. PC players went on to explain how the mount speed works on PC, and others detailed how having a mouse can change gameplay in other ways.

For example, the Teleport for the Sorcerer class functions automatically on console, meaning that the game will choose the teleport distance for you, usually depending on how far away your enemies are. Even when there are no enemies around, the teleport will only move you so far forward, while on PC, you can move the cursor to the edge of the screen and move much further.

The stark differences in input devices can make complete cross-platform parity between PC and console quite difficult to achieve, so some differences are bound to exist, however, PC players simply moving faster doesn't seem to be an unavoidable disparity. Console players are clamoring for this to be patched, though, as some disgruntled PC players suggested, it may be that the fix will involve slowing them down.
