In the aftermath of the Bradley Beal trade, the attention has turned to superstar guard Damian Lillard and whether he's played his last game for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Although Lillard has been adamant about never wanting to leave the franchise, the time has come to make a decision on whether this will work out with the superstar leading the way.
With the Blazers having the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Lillard wants the team to trade it and other assets to bring in another star player to play alongside him in hopes of Portland being able to compete moving forward.
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Blazers seem to be leaning in the direction of keeping the pick rather than making a move with the pick, which essentially signals the end of Lillard in Portland via NBA on ESPN.
On Thursday, it'll be interesting to see if Lillard is still with the Blazers, as one would have to think that a move would be made to either set the superstar's mind at ease or try and trade him to the Miami Heat or Brooklyn Nets, which he openly suggested if that's what the team decides to do.
The Heat has been aggressively pursuing a trade to acquire Lillard, with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo actively recruiting him to Miami.
With the clock ticking, only time will tell if the Blazers end up making a big splash and if the Lillard era in Portland has finally come to an end.
