Week four of Destiny 2's Season of the Deep is underway, and with it comes the annual return of Trials of Osiris. This time around, the all-powerful Messenger Pulse Rifle has returned to the loot pool once more with a new batch of perks.

However, some players need clarification on how to acquire this gun properly. This Destiny 2 guide will help players find and obtain The Messenger Pulse Rifle and determine its God Roll.
To obtain The Messenger Pulse Rifle, players will need to hop into the Trials of Osiris playlist and complete matches. This can be done solo or with a fireteam of up to three people. The games only need to be completed, regardless if it's a win or loss. When the match ends, the player will receive Trials of Osiris reputation, which is put towards their rank. Increasing their Trials of Osiris rank will reward the player with a Trials Engram, which they can decode at Saint-14 in the Tower Hangar.
Decoding a Trials of Osiris Engram will not guarantee a Messenger, but one will eventually drop after a few tries. After obtaining at least one, they can specifically focus for the gun by spending one Trials Engram and 25,000 Glimmer. It's a hefty price, but definitely worth the cost.
However, for those strong enough to overcome the sandbox, winning fifty rounds of Trials of Osiris will reward the player with a regular Messenger. This will also count towards the decoding process, allowing the player to focus for the gun.
The Messenger Pulse Rifle has always been a force of nature in PvP activities, and with its new suite of perks, this will likely remain the same. The God Roll players should be looking for is Rapid Hit and Headseeker.
Rapid Hit will temporarily increase the weapon's reload speed and stability when hitting precision shots. Meanwhile, Headseeker will grant increased precision damage after landing multiple body shots. Headseeker is incredibly potent this Season on Pulse Rifles, and with a high-impact frame like The Messenger, this weapon will easily shred through opponents.
The best options for the Barrel, Magazine, and Masterwork improve the weapon's overall stats. For the Barrel, the player should pick Arrowhead Brake to enhance the recoil and handling speed. Richochet Rounds or High Caliber Rounds will work wonders for the range. Finally, a reload speed Masterwork is a must to help the gun, as the reload speed could be better for it.
Overall, unless a nerf is planned for high-impact Pulse Rifles, The Messenger will waste no time destroying the Crucible for the remainder of Season of the Deep.
Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
