Incoming Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique is in full agreement with the club that Harry Kane should be their primary summer transfer target.
Kane's representatives held a meeting with PSG transfer chiefs last month and there appears to be a concentrated effort from the French club to land the striker. It comes after Lionel Messi exited the French capital with doubts over the futures of both Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
The England international is on Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag's target list this summer as he is on red alert to sign a central striker at Old Trafford. United are desperate to sign an elite central striker and Ten Hag believed Kane's contractual situation - which expires next summer - will mean that a deal is possible.
However, United chiefs have swiftly grown pessimistic on any deal as they believe that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will simply not countenance the striker's exit and much less to a direct rival in the Premier League. It follows on from United falling out of the race to sign Napoli defender Kim Min-jae and West Ham captain Declan Rice, which is said to have angered Ten Hag.
United have not signed a player from Spurs since Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov in the summer of 2008. That came two years after Michael Carrick made the same move. However, the move for Berbatov dragged on until the closing hours of the summer transfer window.
That prompted then-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and former CEO David Gill to vow that they would never deal with the north London club again. That is a promise they kept until they both departed United in the summer of 2013, with the decade since also seeing no direct business.

Wout Weghorst is leaving Old Trafford at the end of the campaign when his loan deal expires while it is believed that United will listen to offers for Anthony Martial. The only other senior striker in the club's senior squad is Marcus Rashford, who prefers to play from the left.
As outlined by Le Parisien, PSG are set to appoint former Barcelona and Spain boss Luis Enrique as their new boss after talks with Julian Nagelsmann broke down. The Spaniard is keen to secure the signing of Kane, the report adds - with the coach and club thought to have directly namechecked the England captain.
PSG are likely to have a new-look attack next season with the futures of Mbappe and Neymar unclear - and the futures of each of those superstars is likely to influence the strength of their pursuit of Kane.
