Queen Máxima of the Netherlands looked stunning in a statement gown at a gala dinner in Brussels this evening.

Hosted by the Belgian royals at their official residence, the Castle of Laeken, the gala dinner took place on the first night of Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander's three-day state visit to Brussels.

Looking effortlessly elegant, Queen Maxima sported a dusty pink gown, which featured a beaded bodice and a full, ruffled skirt.

With her hair brushed back, the Dutch Queen, 52, wore the Stuart Tiara dating back to 1897 for the momentous occasion.   Queen Máxima previously wore the elaborate tiara for a state banquet at Buckingham Palace in October 2018.

The finishing touches of an ornate diamond necklace and matching diamond drop earrings made Queen Máxima dazzle.

Meanwhile, her host, Queen Mathilde of Belgium, looked equally elegant in an embellished pale blue strapless gown.

The 50-year-old mother-of-three wore a long lace shawl draped over her shoulders and carried a small clutch bag.

Also wearing a tiara, a diamond necklace and diamond earrings, Queen Mathilde's jewellery was just as spectacular as Queen Máxima's,

The two Heads of State, King Phillipe and  King Willem-Alexander, both of whom were due to deliver speeches, looked smart in white tie and tails.

Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands put on a friendly display today as they greeted the Belgian Royals during a visit to Brussels.

Arriving by train at Brussels-South train station, Dutch Queen Máxima absolutely dazzled in a fitted pale gold coat dress.

The mother-of-three wore her long blonde hair up in a sophisticated knot, adding a wide-brimmed cream hat, diamond earrings and a three-strand necklace.

She finished her classic look by adding dark beige shoes and matching gloves.

Joined by her husband King Willem-Alexander, 56, who looked sharp in a royal blue suit with a crisp white shirt and pale blue tie, the two posed for photos as well-wishers flocked to greet them.

The husband and wife were welcomed by Belgian foreign minister Hadja Lahbib, before being whisked away to greet King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium at the Royal Palace.

The foursome appeared delighted to see one another with King Willem-Alexander stopping to kiss Queen Mathilde's gloved hand before enveloping her in a hug.

The Belgian Queen looked stunning in a red strapless dress that had a sheer overlay to cover her chest and long sleeves.

Adding to her look, Mathilde, 50, also wore delicate diamond drop earrings and a matching red hat with a sweet bow on the side.

Her husband, King Philippe, 63, looked suave in a dark blue suit, white shirt and paisley-patterned tie.

On arriving at the Royal Palace, Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander were invited inside to take part in a welcoming ceremony.

Sitting at a table in the magnificent ball room, officials looked on as the royal couple signed a book, looked on by the Belgian king and queen.

Following the ceremony, the King and Queen of the Netherlands will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, commemorating all unidentified Belgian soldiers who fell during the First World War.

Their action-packed day does not stop there as Willem-Alexander and Máxima will visit the Federal Parliament of Belgium to speak with members of the Chamber of Representatives and the Senate before being given a tour of the building.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima's tour does not stop here. Wednesday will see the King and Queen travel to Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Waterloo and Charleroi, before heading to Leuven and finishing in Antwerp.

The state visit aims to reaffirm the excellent ties between the two neighbouring countries, which have strong historical, social and economic links.

Along the tour, the two royal couples will visit many different centres, museums and companies that are working towards a sustainable future in which energy is green and affordable.
