Karolis Chvedukas, a Lithuanian soccer player who played for multiple clubs, died at age 32.
The Lithuanian Football Association confirmed Monday that Chvedukas passed unexpectedly of unspecified causes.
"The Lithuanian Football Federation, on behalf of the entire community, expresses its deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased in this difficult hour," they said in a statement.
Chvedukas played 20 matches for Lithuania's national team. He scored 23 goals in 170 appearances for FK Suduva, winning the Lithuanian Cup and Lithuanian Supercup in 2009.
The midfielder also suited up for the League of Ireland's Dundalk FC and Waterford FC. His former Dundalk coach, Stephen O'Donnell responded to the devastating news in a club statement.
"I lived with Karolis in Belfry Drive during his time in Dundalk," said O'Donnell said, "and it was terrible news to receive on Monday, really shocking. ... Karolis was a great character around the place."
Our thoughts go out to Chvedukas' loved ones for their tragic loss.
