Manchester United could finally end their striker search by signing a lethal attacker after Bayern opted to go in a different direction with their summer transfers, according to one journalist.
Bayern appear to have copied Man Utd's every move in recent weeks. Man Utd were in pole position to sign centre-back Kim Min-jae from Napoli, with reports even claiming it to be a 'done deal'. However, Bayern began pursuing Kim on Thursday and are now on the verge of signing him first.
The South Korean has agreed a contract with Bayern, forcing Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag to look at alternative defensive targets such as Axel Disasi, Jean-Clair Todibo and Gleison Bremer.
Bayern have also been following Man Utd's every move when it comes to their hunt for a new centre-forward. Man Utd had been linked with Benfica ace Goncalo Ramos and Atalanta hitman Rasmus Hojlund first, but on Monday German source Sport1 revealed how those two players are on Bayern's shortlist as well.
Plus, the two sides have both been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani.
Of those strikers, Hojlund is thought to be Man Utd's preferred choice. Red Devils midfielder Christian Eriksen has already admitted he 'can see' Hojlund starring at Old Trafford, while the 20-year-old has spoken publicly about his love for Man Utd.

And while previous targets such as Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen would cost over £100million, Hojlund is available for transfer at £52m.
And now, Man Utd have been given some good news as it seems Bayern will not compete with them for the Denmark international.
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the German champions are instead looking at Werder Bremen striker Niclas Fullkrug.
Bayern chiefs have held a new round of discussions with Fullkrug's representatives and are the two parties are in 'regular contact' over a transfer.
Bayern have been told that the 30-year-old can be signed if they bid at least ?15m (£13m).
While Fullkrug is not one of the most well-known strikers in Europe, he does boast a great scoring record. He scored 19 goals in the 2021-22 season to help Werder Bremen return to the German top flight, as well as notching 16 goals in 30 matches during the season just finished.
Fullkrug has played for the German national team seven times and bagged seven goals, with two of those strikes coming in the Qatar World Cup.
Ten Hag will be delighted if Bayern follow up on their interest in Fullkrug and end up signing him. This would leave Hojlund free for Man Utd to capture.
Hojlund has been labelled 'the Danish Erling Haaland' due to his ability to score goals at such a young age. He shone with Austrian side Sturm Graz to earn a transfer to Atalanta last summer. And Hojlund has adapted brilliantly in Italy, registering 10 goals in 34 games during his debut campaign.
Should Man Utd manage to bring Hojlund to the Premier League, then Ten Hag will be aiming to help him reach his full potential and become an absolute goal machine, just like Haaland.
Meanwhile, Man Utd are on the verge of agreeing a huge new contract for one of their best players, as per a trusted source.
