C?atherine, Princess of Wales looked every inch the future queen as she re-opened the National Portrait Gallery in London on Tuesday.

Kate wore a ?metallic bouclé and chiffon midi blazer dress from London-based brand Self-Portrait.

The 41-year-old has previously worn the same style in different colours - first donning the plain white bouclé version of the dress to a reception for those involved in her Hold Still photography project in 2021.

For the royal's National Portrait Gallery appearance, the ensemble combined her two previous versions of the chic number, with Chanel-like pocket detailing across the body.

?The outfit was paired with a quilted black Chanel clutch and black Aquazzura's bow-tie pumps, which she was also spotted wearing during the coronation festivities last month.

Kate donned pearl drop earrings, forgoing any other jewellery beyond her engagement and wedding rings.

The royal's hair was out and flowing in her signature bouncy blow dry.

One snap from the outing showing the princess's luscious locks flowing behind her ?is reminiscent of the future queen's 40th birthday portraits, which now hang in the gallery.

The Princess of Wales, a keen photographer herself and known for being behind a number of official royal photos?, met with the architect behind the extensive three-year refurbishment project, Jamie Fobert.

Kate also met with award-winning artist Tracey Emin, who was commissioned to create an artwork for the Gallery's new doors, which incorporates 45 carved brass panels, representing "every woman, throughout time".

The princess, who is royal patron of the gallery, also heard about how the gallery would champion the royal's other passion - early childhood.

Its new unde-fives program encourages creative learning, play and exploration.

The mum-of-three then joined nursery children taking part in a multi-sensory workshop focused on the world of Beatrix Potter.

During her visit, Kate had the opportunity to see some of the gallery's new acquisitions, including Joshua Reynolds' Portrait of Mai (Omai).

She also viewed the new exhibition Yevonde: Life and Colour, which is about the life and career of the pioneering London photographer who spearheaded the use of colour photography in the 1930s.
