Dean Moat's new self-built machine was running fantastically in the 1300 Stock Cars at King's Lynn on Saturday.

The Moat family have been synonymous with the formula for the decades, and continue to be at the forefront of it in 2023.

The Moats do everything themselves, and Dean debuted a new car for 2023 which has taken a few meetings to get into full swing - but he was very much on form last Saturday with some great results.

A fantastic turnout of 1300 stock cars saw a full format meeting which included a qualifiers-only final. A great drive by Dean saw him come home in third place in his heat.

The top four drivers in this race, also including Carl Waterfield, Jack Smith and Leo Moore, were involved in a thrilling battle during the last five laps which saw places swap each lap. Waterfield took the chequered flag at the end.

Come the final, Moat was again looking good en-route to a third place finish in a race which was won by Norwich's Jack Smith - and this was backed up with a runner-up finish in the All Comers, where he just ran out of laps to catch flying white top Leo Moore.

Dean was joined in the final by Tom Alsop, who came home in fourth place in his heat - with Lee Green qualifying with an eighth place finish in the same race.

John Klyn - on his return to racing - made the final at the first attempt with a seventh place finish, while Sonny Wright needed the consolation to get to the final, which he comfortably reached with a sixth place finish.

John Moat failed to make the final and Barty Ketteringham suffered massive damage in a crash in his heat which ruled him out for the night.

In additional to Dean, Lee Green was also in the points in the final with a ninth place finish.

James Licquorice had another good night in the 2L Bangers as he helped his Dover Boys team into second spot in the team standings.

Rhys Parrin had his best night for a while in the Junior Bangers with a solid third place finish in the meeting final, which was won by Ramsgate's Riley Marsh.

Lincoln Douglas had in a fantastic drive in his heat to get a third place finish from the blue grade, while Jade Ellis, Lee Horwood and Riley Crowson also had top ten finishes throughout the day.

Racing returns to King's Lynn on July 1 when the Unlimited Banger War of the Worlds takes centre stage, with racing also coming from the BriSCA F1 Stock Cars and a white and yellow grade outing for the F2 Stock Cars.
