Some of our favourite brands are royal family-approved, with the most stylish members having worn them so frequently over the years - from Alexander McQueen to Carolina Herrera, Aspinal of London to Kimaï. Once a royal finds a label they love, they tend to remain loyal.
Strathberry is firmly on that list. The contemporary accessories label was worn by not one, but two royal family members at the same event yesterday. Kate, the Princess of Wales, and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, both carried two of Strawberry's best-selling bags in the shade 'vanilla diamond' while attending the Order of the Garter service together at St George's Chapel in Windsor.
When it came to her outfit, Kate turned to one of her go-to designers, Alexandra Rich, styling her polka-dot dress with the Strathberry 'Multrees' chain wallet clutch (one of her personal favourite pieces), as well as a monochrome Philip Treacy headpiece, Jennifer Chamandi heels and pearl droplet earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana.

Sophie went down the floral route in a pink and green printed dress with a co-ordinating headpiece, paired with a slightly larger design from Strathberry - the 'Box Crescent' bag, in the same 'vanilla diamond' cream-coloured leather as Kate's.

It's no secret the impact that a royal endorsement like this can have on a fashion brand. In particular, Kate's style influence - known as the 'Kate effect' - is estimated to have given a £1 billion annual boost to the UK fashion industry.
The Edinburgh-based brand Strathberry has already experienced this. The mid-priced label was first worn by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, who chose the Midi Tote for her first ever public appearance with Prince Harry, and has also been seen carrying two other styles. Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall have both publicly worn Strathberry bags, too.
"People are just so intrigued by the royals and the way they present themselves," Strathberry co-founder Leeanne Hundleby previously told Bazaar. "Being worn by the royals has opened up whole new audiences for us, and introduced us to people who had never heard of the brand before."
The secret to Strathberry's royal success? "We are very focused on craftsmanship and quality, but we still sell at an affordable price," she explained. "We make our products alongside Loewe, Dior and Caroline Herrera, who use the same workshops and leather as us. But we're up in Edinburgh, a bit removed from the fashion centres, and we try to be original in what we create."
With many shoppers now favouring the 'quiet luxury' aesthetic - prioritising high-quality materials and craftsmanship over flashy logomania - we can expect brands like Strathberry to grow even more in popularity.
