As 2023 enters its second half, Nat Vazer has already clocked a series of impressive feats.
Internationally, she landed with impact at showcase festivals including SXSW and NYC's New Colossus Festival; all the while completing a run of well-received headline shows on the East Coast.
And back on the home front, Vazer's profile has continued to strengthen, largely thanks to the release of tracks like 'Addicted to Misery' and 'Born' -- music that has beautifully teased her new album, Strange Adrenaline, which is due out in October.
What has made Nat Vazer so compelling as an artist in recent years, is the way her music can weave through moments of vibrancy and subtlety without losing any of the artist's unique presence on record.
The title track from Strange Adrenaline highlights this quality, and adds another interesting puzzle piece as we look ahead to the album's release in just a few months' time.
The music evokes the same emotional weight that work by the likes of Julien Baker, Mitski or Angel Olsen can bring. If you're a fan of this type of personal lyricism and haven't heard of Nat Vazer before, you're likely going to have a great time embarking on this journey of discovery.
For Vazer, 'Strange Adrenaline' is about finding the ambition and nerve to "chase the unknown".
""Strange Adrenaline" were two words that jumped out at me late one night, while reading a Patti Smith novel," Vazer describes.
"The phrase captures that feeling of when you're on the brink of something terrifying, but extraordinary."
The release of Vazer's Strange Adrenaline album on October 6 is the first studio album we're getting from her since 2020's Is This Offensive And Loud? landed the songwriter on more radars around the country.
Her debut album, Is This Offensive And Loud? brought Vazer an Australian Music Prize nomination, as well as a nomination at that year's Music Victoria Awards (Best Breakthrough Artist).
