Woolworths has just launched a 'game-changing' new avocado feature set to make shoppers' lives easier and reduce waste.
The supermarket giant has introduced 'Eat Now' and 'Eat Later' labels that let customers know how ripe an avocado is at a glance without squeezing it.
Stores across Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania will see the stickers rolled out in the coming weeks.
'We understand the disappointment of cutting into an unripe avocado, a tale known too well with avocado lovers,' a Woolworths spokesperson told FEMAIL.
'Customers will now be able to buy their avos with confidence with the introduction of Eat Now stickers, which indicate the perfect ripeness today.'
The 'Eat Later' signage has been introduced to signal it will take 2-4 days until the fruit is ready to be eaten - making it easier for home chefs to pre-plan their meals for the week.
NSW, WA and the NT aren't currently included but will be part of the roll out process.
The sticker system is also used in-stores for bananas to let customers know the different ripeness stages for their fruit.
'Reducing food waste in Australia remains a top priority for Woolworths, and the 'Eat Now' concept is one of the many ways it's tackling food waste by bringing consumption time to top-of-mind,' the Woolworths spokesperson revealed.
