After reaching the NBA Finals, the Miami Heat are looking to add to their roster for another run in 2023-24.
According to a report from The Athletic's David Aldridge, Heat star Jimmy Butler is going big-game hunting for next season.
Following the Phoenix Suns' trade for Bradley Beal on Sunday, Aldridge wrote that Miami has its sights set on Damian Lillard, with Butler doing a lot of the legwork.
"Miami has clearly prioritized getting Damian Lillard from Portland, with Jimmy Butler a central part of the Heat's recruiting pitch," Aldridge said.
Butler and Lillard would likely form a potent 1-2 punch in South Beach. Yahoo's Chris Haynes also reported Sunday that the Heat's "focus" is on the Portland Trail Blazers star.
Lillard said earlier this month that the Heat would be atop his list of potential destinations if he chooses to actually leave Portland, so this is definitely something to keep an eye on.
As of now, Lillard is saying he wants to remain with the Blazers, but we all know how quickly these things can chance.
Stay tuned.
