xQc is Already Getting in Trouble on Kick

Top (former) Twitch streamer and content creator Felix 'xQc' Lengyel has only been on Kick for a short while, yet is already getting himself into trouble. The prolific streaming figure has only begun broadcasting on the new streaming platform during this month, and while xQc's Twitch streams are no stranger to controversy, he has already incurred the wrath of the DMCA on Kick.

Undoubtedly one of the top streamers on Twitch and in the streaming world as a whole, shockwaves were sent around the internet when news broke that xQc would be signing a massive deal with Kick, pulling him away from his longtime primary platform. The streamer agreed to a two-year deal with the Twitch rival - which will see him earn a guaranteed $70 million - with the potential to earn up to $100 million depending on his performance on the platform.

The trouble xQc got into during one of his recent streams is a violation of Kick's DMCA policy. The DMCA, or Digital Millennium Copyright Act, is basically a law which prohibits streamers or content creators for using copyrighted material for themselves. In xQc's case, the violation occurred due to xQc streaming the 2008 film The Dark Knight. A ways into the fan-favorite Batman movie, during the scene in which the Joker is detained in a jail cell, xQc received a message from a Kick staff member informing him of the DMCA policy violation.

In a clip which can be found on xQc's Kick channel, the streamer suddenly pauses the VOD, quickly saying aloud "makes sense" and "gg" before abruptly bringing the stream to an end. The scene where xQc ended up pausing occurs after a good chunk of The Dark Knight has already passed, meaning he could've potentially earned around thousands of dollars for just that stream alone. Streaming expert Devin Nash broke down the structuring of xQc's lucrative new contract, determining that xQc's potential hourly earnings end up being around $10,000 per hour.

While xQc is having a bit of trouble with his new streaming home, he's facing trouble with his actual home as well. The streamer moved back to his native Canada after being at the receiving end of one too many swatting incidents, in hopes the occurrences would stop. This doesn't seem to be the case unfortunately, as cops keep showing up to xQc's new house. A few weeks ago the streamer posted a video tour of his new place, ending with flashing police lights and an officer at his doorstep.

Despite an early DMCA hiccup, it should be interesting to see if xQc can succeed on a non-Twitch streaming platform and what impact he makes on Kick's relevance going forward.
