Elderly man's body discovered at scene of Johns River house fire on NSW Mid North Coast

Police are investigating the discovery of a man's body at the scene of a house fire on the New South Wales Mid North Coast.

Emergency services were called to the Riddles Brush Road home in Johns River just before midnight on Monday.

Fire and Rescue NSW and Rural Fire Service crews worked to extinguished the blaze.

The body of a man believed to be in his 70s was found outside the house at the rear of the property.

NSW Police have established a crime scene and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
