Buildings are only as alive as their ability to remain standing in one piece. Many of the city's structures got crushed due to World War II aerial attacks. The bombs that destroyed about half of Stuttgart left in their wake rubble of ruined edifices. Between 1953 and 1957, the debris was all scooped up and moved to this hill. A lot of the destroyed pieces are from the city center. Therefore, if you climb the top of this pile of discarded architectural material, you may find old and beautiful facades (or pieces of them) and add them to your artistic photography collection. Either you do that or you can take your own creative snapshot of the magnificent panoramic view of the city from the top of this heap. Remember to behave with respect while you're on this hill as Germans see this site as a memorial to the horrors of the Second World War.
