The NBA world woke up with the news that one of the best bench players to ever play the game is finishing his career.

Lou Williams, who last played for the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA, is calling it a career after 17 years in the league.

The veteran guard took to social media to share the news with fans by using a 2-minute clip remembering his career.

Williams, 36, was selected with the No. 45 overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.

He spent seven years with the Sixers before playing for five more teams in the NBA.

Williams had stints with the Toronto Raptors, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Angeles Clippers, and the Atlanta Hawks.

Williams spent his best years with the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 19.1 points, 5.1 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in 261 games with them.

He won the Sixth Man of the Year award three times in his career, first with the Toronto Raptors in 2015 and then with the Clippers in 2018 and 2019.

The guard had a terrific career, individually speaking, as he was one of the league's best sixth men during his peak.

During his 17-year run in the league, he finished with an average of 13.9 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds in 1,123 regular-season games.
